Catfish Blues Review – Al Corté “Mojo”

This time we are with AL CORTÈ , veteran of the New York State Amateur Rhythm & Blues and doo-wop scene in the Sixties. A couple of years ago, Corté was the protagonist of an unexpected comeback, engaging a selection of songs that convinced many – he first – to be still able to sing. But it’s’ Mojo‘, the latest album, which disintegrates every possible doubt. Mojo is worth the expense of a sumptuous trip to Arkansas, where Corté currently resides. He was recorded at the Royal Studios by Willie Mitchell in the company of royal musicians: John Németh, Harmonica, High Rhythm Section, Royal Singers, Royal Horns, Royal Strings, not to mention the Tennessee Choir. The ladder includes a dozen original pieces, interpreted with impetus, optimism and controlled passion, in a tribute to the past not too distant of the glorious soul music of the South.
Appointment as always fixed at 21.00 on Thursday night until 22.30. Edited by the great  Edoardo Fassio .
